Guild Wars 2: So Whats Your Opinion On The Armor Aesthetic In This Game

We have interviews some Guild Wars 2 players about their view of the Armor Aesthetic, here is what they think:

Seraph Guardian:the only skin that means anything right now is the holloween slippers xd imo of course..

I dont like the god set on my engineer.. well I like the hat but the butt cape is a little too much.. the rascal crafted set looks pretty good.

the arah set still working on

Sylvari Specialist:I really don't get the argument for restricting armor to professions as though doing so will magically produce more variety of armor. No, that would just give us the same number of armor except we'd be even more limited by what armor has been assigned to each profession. It's not the shared pool of armor that's giving us limited variety, it's simply because it's a new gw2 gold game. Comparing it to GW1 is stupid because the first game had been out for over 7 years to accumulate all those varieties of armor.

Seraph Guardian:I would have liked to see a set up more similar to the original GW, with basic armour being easily available and then having more elaborate "elite" versions that cost more.  The change seems like it was only to push the use of the gemstore, so that's a little disappointing.  I also think it would have been nice if the random armour drops from enemies were more specific to the area you're in, similar to how the weapon skins work.  It seems like you have very few armour options up until around level 35 and it's even worse if you're not crafting.

In terms of actual asthetics though, I think they're fine.  Like most others are saying, a bit more variety would help though, especially for the medium armour sets.  I loved the few coats there were in GW1, but having almost nothing but coats this time doesn't really work.

At least in my case, I don't need them to be profession specific, really, I just mean I miss a lot of designs that were profession specific in GW1. I'd be more than happy to see throwback designs to those armors, but generally available as light/medium/heavy. As I think someone else mentioned, more sets "intended" for specific professions and fitting their tropes and themes, but not necessarily restricted to singular profs.

In other words... More sexay courtier style armors for mesmers (but also usable by other scholars who want a touch of hauteur), plox!

Sylvari Specialist:I think the armor for the most part is great.   There are TONS of sets to shoot for, and some of them look great and aren't that hard to attain (fireheart rise heavy set).   Sure, there probably are a few too many "skirt" looking armors and maybe a few too many trenchcoats.  BUT, it's certainly much better than any other fantasy gw2 gold game I've played.
